Diamond Microdermabrasion (DM) is the newest alternative to traditional microdermabrasion machines.  

DM differs from traditional treatments in that it doesn’t rely on microdermabrasion crystals to perform skin exfoliation.

Crystal Microdermabrasion (CM) is still a popular and effective treatment; however, there has been some concern in the industry about the potential side effects of working with aluminum oxide crystals regularly over prolonged periods.

DM relies on microdermabrasion tips covered in tiny diamonds to remove the dead, outermost layer of skin. The exfoliation process reveals the new, living cells that are soft, smooth and receptive to nutrients. Using a vacuum, the specially designed wand containing the diamond tip glides across the skin making contact with layers of the stratum corneum that are then exfoliated and vacuumed away with the dead skin cells. Increasing the vacuum makes the process stronger and suitable for treating old stretch marks or deeper acne scars. Higher suction levels can be used on body skin because it is less sensitive than facial skin.

The vacuum also has the added benefit of stimulating collagen and elastin as well as increasing blood flow to the skin. This provides an instantly revived complexion and healthy glow, while collagen and elastin work to build stronger and more youthful skin.
